面试英语实况范例:律师 Lawyer

M: I heard that you need more hands from Fuheng Wang, the General Manager of Shanghai International Cooperation Corporation of Economics and Technology. Here is my licence.

I: Let me have a look. oh, you got this grade in 2000. When were you called to the bar?

M: In 1997. Shortly after I got my master of laws, I sat for the National Lawyers' Examination and got the qualification certificate. Then I worked as an assistant lawyer. One year later I got the lawyer's licence from the judicial authorities.

I: Where did you get your master of laws?

M: From China University of Political Science and Law.

I: What did you specialize in?

M: I specialized in International Economic Law.

I: What courses did you take?

M: I took a lot of courses, such as introduction to international Economic Law, the International Trade Law, Law of International Sale of Goods, Law of International Trade of Technology, Law of International Trade in Service, the International Investment Law, Laws on Foreign Investment of Capital-Import-Countries, Laws on Oversea Investment of Capital-Export-Countries, International Financial Law, International Tax Law, and so on.

I: Where do you work at present?

M: I work at Shanghai Marine Law Office.

I: Do you have any experience in offering legal assistance in international arbitrations?

M:Yes, I do. In 2000, a foreign cargo ship arrived at Shanghai Harbor. The charterer proposed to Shanghai Marine Court that the ship be mortgaged for auction because of great losses owing to the crew's strike at sea after the ship was loaded in Australia as the owner of the ship didn't send them the pay on the fixed date. I was appointed as the defender in the case and the dispute was reasonably settled. In 2001, a foreign ship leaked ethene off Shanghai and seriously polluted the waters. The related authorities claimed five million U.S. dollars. As the agent of the suit, I succeeded in helping them get the payment.

I: What do you think are the challenge met by China's bar profession after the entry into WTO?

M: I think the challenges are as follows: the challenge of the quality of the Chinese lawyers asa whole, the challenge of internationalization of the Chinese lawyers' service, the challenge of the chinese law offfices' size, structure and function, the challenge of modernization of the system of lawyers' management, the challenge of the environment of the legal system of China's bar profession, the challenge of the operational modes of the Chinese lawyers and the challenge of the competition with foreign counterparts.

I: So far, so good. Now let's talk something else. Why are you desirous of leaving the present law office?

M: Honestly, I'm an ambitous man. I want to meet more challenge and shoulder more responsibilities. After all, the marine law office is limited in business. As far as I know, the business of your office has been going up rapidly since China's access into WTO. So it is your office that will be able to satisfy my personal need.

I: Our work is always involved in foreign languages. How about your foreign language abilities?

M: I passed Band Six of CET when I was an undergraduate. I learned German as my second foreign language when I was a graduate student. After I got my master of laws, I sat for IELTS, the score of which was 8 points. What's more, I'm well trained in Law English.

I: Have you got application materials ready?

M: Definitely. Here is my resume. These are copies of various certificates.

I: I'll make up my mind regarding your employment after I review your materials.

M: Please inform me as sonns as possible. The number of my mobile phone is included in the resume. It's very kind of you to have talked with me for so long.

I: You're welcome. See you later.

M: See you later, Mr. Fang.
