广州本田汽车有限公司需要一位有经验的机械设计工程师。经朋友推荐，在长春一汽工作的姚先生前来去招聘经理面谈。

I: I was told by Mr. Yu that you arrived in Guangzhou this morning. You had a nice trip, didn't you?

Y: Yes, I did.

I: You graduated from Tsinghua University?

Y: Yes.

I: What department did you study in?

Y: Department of Mechanical Engineering.

I: And what did you specialized in?

Y: I specialized in engine designs

I: Where are you working now?

Y: I'm working at Changchun No. 1 Automobile Factory, the biggest of its kind in China.

I: As far as I know, your factory is well-known for its trucks of Jiefang brand. But do you manafacture any other vehicle?

Y: Yes. We also produce buses and minibuses. And we have made advanced limousines of Red Flag brand.

I: What is your responsibility there?

Y: I'm responsible for designing engines.

I: Can you tell me something about your achievements?

Y: Of course. Years ago, I designed a kind of new diesel engine for trucks of Jiefang brand. Such a new diesel engine has decreased diesel fuel consumption by 15%. The year before last I designed a more horse powerful gasoline engine for limousines. Such a new gasoline engine has greatly increased the speed of the limousines made by our factory.

I: Wonderful. You've really made some contributions to China's automobile manufacturing. You must have received some honors or rewards?

Y: Yes. I received a reward for outstanding contributions from the State Council of PRC in 2001. And I received a first-class reward for advanced designs from the People's Government of Jilin Province the year before last. In addtion, I have been chosen as a "working model" in the factory over the past five years in successtion.

I: ok. Now please tell me what you know about this company.

Y: Your company is a Sino-Japanese joint venture which produces Honda cars. This kind of car goes fast with less gasoline consumption. So your products sell well both at home and abroad. Demand always exceeds supply.

I: Do you have any plan for the new job if we hire you as a senior mechanical design engineer with this comany?

Y: If I get the privilege of working at this company, I want to further improve the engine so as to raise Honda's competitiveness with such cars as Lincoln, Benz, and Crown.

I: Like knows like. That is just what we want to do. It is for this reason that we are anxious to seek an aggressive and creative mechanical design engineer. I have interviewed quite a number of job seekers. But none of them are satisfactory to me. Todsay I've found a suitable man like you at last.

Y: Thank you, sir.

I: How long can we expect you to work here?

Y: If I feel I'm making progress in the work, I'll stay until the age limit.

I: Very good. We'll provide you with a yearly salary of 66,000 yuan. And we'll give you a 30-day paid vaacation a year so that you can have a happy reuniou with your family in Chang Chun. Do you have any particular condition you'd expect the company to take into consideration?

Y: Nothing particular. But may I ask for an apartment?

I: That's out of question. We'll supply you with an apartment of two bedrooms and a living room. When can you start to work here?

Y: In one month. I must go back to Changchun to hand over my work and to go through necessary procedures.
